my abortion essay

The first thing that comes to my mind when I hear the word America is freedom. Freedom is the foundation of our country and soldiers risk their lives every day in order to defend this great nation. So when asked about a proposed law that I feel is un-American I would say that the current abortion laws in this nation is un this -American. Some people may argue that women in America should have the freedom to choose, but I disagree. Freedom in situation should lie with the unborn child, this child deserves the freedom to live and grow in this great nation.

My personal belief is that God has a plan for all of us. “The rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God” (Kennedy,197). This includes the thousands of babies aborted each day. “For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life” (Kennedy,197). The bible tells us in the book of Jeremiah that God knew us before we were born. We all know that the genetic make-up of our body, spirit and mind was decided while we were in the womb. If not, why would we be given the choice to have an abortion if the baby is not the right sex. Women are made to take a test before the baby is born to see if the child is healthy. Wake up people these are examples that the fetus is indeed a human being.

I am afraid that the worse is yet to come. With obamacare we, as American tax-payers may be helping kill innocent babies. In the past we had the Supreme Court case Roe V. Wade of 1973. This was the start to legalizing abortion. Today, and for the next four years we are going to be made along with a healthcare plan that is totally un-American. I do realize that a total ban of abortion is highly unlikely. However, the current laws make the United States tax-payers pay for abortions. It is my personal belief that abortion is wrong, but if we can join together we can take on abortion bit-by-bit. We are all endowed by our creator with certain unalienable rights, and among these rights are the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
